The Benefits of Digital Impressions
FreySmiles Orthodontics is pleased to offer the iTero Oral Digital Scanner in all of their office locations and they were the first in the Lehigh Valley to have this technology! These scanners offer speed, accuracy and comfort. We now use these digital scanners for all of our dental impression needs in our treatment planning and in fabricating all types of appliances for orthodontic treatment. This advanced impression scan is a convenience we want for all of our patients.
How iTero Works

The iTero handheld wand takes a digital, 3D image of your prepared teeth, stopping as needed. The wand is non-invasive and you can breathe and swallow as needed during the procedure. If you need to move or adjust, you can do so – the accuracy of the handheld wand is first-rate. Needing to “re-do” impressions is rare. Plus, you can look at the iTero 3D image on the screen in real-time as our orthodontic technician moves the wand!
Instead of shipping impressions to the lab to be scanned, the digital image of your teeth is sent electronically to the lab and is available in the Invisalign Clincheck system the very next day. This 3D model of your mouth can be used with all Invisalign services and also for our in-house lab or other labs in fabricating retainers and additional custom orthodontic appliances.

Why Our Patients Love Digital Scanning
Comfort:
No goop, gagging or the discomfort of traditional impressions. Digital scans are less invasive and eliminate the old style tray and putty impressions.
Superior Accuracy:
Exact contours of your teeth are registered in your personal scan. This allows for a more accurate dental record that can offer a better appliance fit that will more efficiently move your teeth and also improve Invisalign treatment. There is no distortion from patient movement or removal of traditional impression trays.
Speed in Treatment:
We can capture all the contours of your teeth in minutes using our iTero scanner. With a digital scan we have the ability to see your teeth instantly in 3D, as the image appears on the screen in real time! Scans are sent directly to Invisalign at light speed so you can get your aligners sooner. All of this digital technology allows for better communication between orthodontist and labs and orthodontists and patients.
